American traditional style tattoos were well know for being paraded on the skin of sailors and people who wanted to rejecy the idea of the American dream from as early as the 1930's. I will be looking closer at the tattoos surrounding the sailors who had them and what they meant.
I started this project by collecting imagery of the tattoos and things that I thought fit in with the visual style of the aesthetic.
I did some video editing to help push the collages in another direction
and then some animation
